How to Lay a Concrete Sidewalk
Concrete is a viable construction material for sidewalks. It is durable and will stand the test of time. Creating these sidewalks on your property provides walking areas away from your flowers. It will also aid in keeping anyone from walking and/or trampling your grass.
How to Lay a Concrete Sidewalk:
Step 1: Lay the concrete sidewalk forms in place. Ensure that they are properly connected and measure the adequate length for your property.
Step 2: Install a bulkhead on the working end of your sidewalk forms. This will make it easier for you to pour your concrete. Begin pouring your concrete for your sidewalk.
Step 3: Remove sod and other loose dirt from the sidewalk area. The soil that remains is compacted and lays flat.
Step 4: Install cross slopes in your sidewalk to aid in drainage.
Step 5: Install asphalt impregnated joints in areas that connect to areas, such as the patio.
Step 6: Cut control joints every four feet within the sidewalk.
