How to Level Single Wide Trailer Homes

Trailer Home

Single wide trailers are leveled at the time of set up.  It is a very important part of making sure the home is secured.  If the home is not level, everything inside will not be level and cause instability in the trailer.  Leveling a mobile home takes about one hour and a hydraulic jack.

Cinder blocks

Items Needed:

  • 4 ton hydraulic jack
  • Cinder blocks
  • Level
  • 4 small blocks of wood
  • Screws
  • Drill
  1. Put the mobile home in its location.
  2. Place cinder blocks under the steel beams.  The steel beams are located underneath the trailer.  Use 6 (six) stacks of cinder blocks.  More can be used if needed.  The height of the stack depends on how far the distance is between the ground and the steel beams.
  3. Get a small block.  Screw it to the side of the mobile home.  Do this on all side of the mobile home.  These blocks will hold the level.
  4. Put a 4 ton hydraulic jack under the steel beams.  Jack up the trailer to the needed height.  This will level the mobile home.
  5. Use another cinder block and place on top of the stack of cinder blocks.  This extra block will then be between the steel beam and the original stack of cinder blocks.

  6. Slowly lower the hydraulic jack.  This will lower the mobile home onto the stacks of cinder blocks and level the trailer.
  7. Check the level.  Place a level on the small block of wood attached to the side of the mobile home.  Make sure everything is level.  Check all four sides.  Remove the small blocks of wood from the side of the home.
