How to Look for Auto Body Parts
There are many different places you can look for auto body parts. Making a few phone calls or doing a quick search on the Internet can get you the part you need quickly. Compare prices for new body parts as well as used parts to determine which will fit your budget.
- Looks for auto body parts at the junkyard. Call several in your area, give them the make, model and year of the vehicle along with the body part needed. Junkyard parts are inexpensive. However, they may require a change of paint and some repair.
- Call or visit auto part stores or dealers. They may carry the part that you need. The auto body part will be new, so the price will be higher than the junkyard.
- Search eBay for auto body parts. Ebay sellers have new and used auto body parts that are shipped right to your door. Ebay’s prices may be cheaper than the local auto part store or dealer, and you may be able to bargain for a lower price.
- Search Craigslist. You can find just about anything that you need on Craigslist. Click on the "auto parts" link in the "for sale" section. Search under "parts." Enter the part required and make, model and year of the vehicle.
- Local newspapers may have advertisements for local shops that sell auto parts. Call the shop and ask them if they have the part that you are looking for. If not, they may be able to refer you to a shop that has what you need.
