How to Maintain Green Grass

Your lawn is one of the first thing neighbor’s notice about your house. You may need to maintain green grass to help the look of your house. This can be achieved easily and can transform the whole look of your house and garden.

Things you will need:

  • Hose

  • Trowel

  • Fork

  • Grass seed

  • Seed compost

  • Nitrogen Fertilizer

  • Lawn mower

  • Bucket

  1. Water your lawn. This should be done once a week and should be watered thoroughly. Investing in a sprinkler system is a great idea for easy watering.

  2. Look for bare patches on your lawn. If you have any you will need to dig into the soil with your trowel and prick the surface with a garden fork. Mix a handful of grass seed and half a bucket of seed compost and distribute it into these patches. Once you have distributed the bucket you will need to water the seeds. Make sure the seeds are fully watered to help new grass grow in the bare areas.

  3. Use nitrogen fertilizer in the fall and winter. This will fertilize the lawn and it will help the lawn retain a green healthy color throughout the year. This will especially help through the rough times of the year like winter when your grass is covered with snow and cannot be maintained.

  4. Remove any weeds. Weeds can kill your lawn so once a weed appears you will need to remove it immediately.

  5. Mow the lawn weekly. You will want to leave the cuttings in the yard to give the grass extra food. This will help maintain the grass and its naturally green look. You may want to mow your grass twice a week for the best results in keeping your grass maintained and green.
