How to Maintain a Treadmill

Investing in a treadmill is a great solution for someone who does not have time to go to the gym. Not only will you be able to work out at any time of the day or night, but you also have the luxury of not having to leave your house. A treadmill requires continuous maintenance and care to keep it operating properly.

How to Maintain a Treadmill

  1. Place the treadmill on a flat and level surface to decrease the chances of it faltering.

  2. Make sure the power cord connected to the treadmill is away from the treadmill at all times.

  3. Clean the treadmill on a regular basis. Dust and debris can cause the belt of the treadmill to operate improperly. Unplug the treadmill from its power source and use a dry cloth to dust the surface, the main console and also the button units. Never use liquid to clean the treadmill. If you need something damp, it is recommended that you use a baby wipe.

  4. Some treadmills use batteries in the main console, and they should be replaced when needed.

  5. The belt may need to be replaced or tightened after long-term use. Refer to your owner's manual for how to tighten the belt on the unit.

  6. Have the treadmill professionally serviced every couple of years unless a problem arises before then. Never attempt to do any type of interior work on the unit.
