Items Needed:
- Ladder
- Gloves (optional)
- Trowel
- 2 cups salt
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups vinegar
- Bucket
- Trash bags
- Scrub brush
- Water hose
Step 1: Use a ladder to reach the gutters. Lean the ladder up against the side of the house and climb up it. Be sure the ladder is standing on flat ground and is not tilting or leaning. You may want to ask a friend or neighbor to hold the ladder steady while you are cleaning the gutters.
Step 2: Use your hands or a trowel to remove any debris from the gutters. Stick, leave and dirt can clog the gutters and keep them from functioning properly. Pull the trowel across the gutters and scoop the debris into a trash bag. Hang the trash bag from the ladder or drop it on the ground.
Step 3: Use your water hose to flush any loose dirt from the gutters. Place the nozzle of the hose at the end of a gutter and turn the water on high pressure. Be sure to flush the downspouts that are located at each corner of the house.
Step 4: Mix the salt, flour and vinegar together in a bucket. Stir until the mixture creates a thick paste. Use a scrub brush to apply the paste to the gutters. Scrub the gutters with the brush and then use the water hose to rinse the paste away. Repeat these steps to clean all of the gutters.
