  1. Open Adobe Photoshop on your computer by double-clicking the icon on your desktop. Alternately, open it by clicking the “Start” button, click “All Programs” and then click “Adobe Photoshop.”

  2. Put a background color on the page using the filler tool. Select a color that matches the colors of the overall template you are creating.

  3. Apple texture to your website template background by clicking the “Texturizer” tool from the Filters menu.

  4. Create boxes for the navigation links, logo and content box by using the rounded rectangle tool or rectangle tool. Apply the blending options and filters to the boxes.

  5. Use the texting tool to add a copyright caption to the bottom of the template. Save the template as a .jpg file to your website folder.

  6. Open Adobe Dreamweaver by double-clicking the icon on your desktop. Alternately, click “Start,” “All Programs” and then click “Adobe Dreamweaver.” Create a new HTML document.

  7. Click “File” from the menu bar at the top, click “Insert,” click “Layout Objects,” and then click “Layer.” A new box will be inserted into the template that allows you to add text, code, and images.

  8. Insert the design you created above into the layer, and then drag the image to the top left corner of the screen.

  9. Click a blank area of the screen, and then click “Page Properties” at the bottom. Change the background color to match the same color of the image.

  10. Click anywhere on the image, and use the rectangle, polygon or oval tools shown at the bottom of the page on the left to create hotspots on the navigation buttons in your design.  Link these hotspots to other pages used in the template.

  11. Save the template as “template.html.”
