How to Make Beaded Hair Accessories
Beads provide you with a wide range of designs that you can create with ease. Even though, making hair accessories with beads is relatively simple, a novice will find it easier using larger beads rather than smaller ones, which requires more time and patience. However, they become easier with practice and time.
Materials
- Hair accessorizes such as headband
- Beads
- Beading wire or string
- Scissors or wire cutter
- Thin elastic strips
- Clear craft glue
- Get as many bobby pins as you would like and pull the beads through the bobby pin on the top. Place a couple dots of glue at the end of the bobby pin to secure the beads in placed. Another option, dot a little bit of glue on top of your bobby pins and add small beads for a different look. Cut either a beading string or wire slightly longer than your bobby pin and tie it one side. Then, thread beads on the wire or string ending close to the end of the bobby pin and tie the opposite end of the string. Secure the string beads to the bobby pin with three or four drops of glue.
- Take your hair clip and your glue, and place small beads across the top of the hair clip covering the top completely, or cover the hair clip with some glue and place it in a bowl with small beads. Other options include, gluing one large bead on the widest area of the hair clip, or adding a strip of small beads on each side of the hair clip and placing a large bead at the end. Using a hair clip gives you more decorative options compare to the bobby pin because they have a wide section at the end and narrow in the middle.
- Accessorize your headbands. Take a fabric headband and add glue. Then, place your beads in any direction you prefer on the headband. Headbands are relatively cheap and readily available, but you can create your own headband. Measure your beading string over the head starting from below one ear and going towards the second ear, and cut the string. Thread the beads and tie the end to keep it in place using an elastic strip slightly above the last bead to secure it in place. Place the beaded accessory on your head and tie in the middle with a piece of elastic to keep the headband in place.
- Create beaded ponytail holder by cutting elastic three or four inches. Attach the beads to the elastic leaving a couple of inches to secure the elastic ends. Place the elastic beads around the ponytail holder and tie in place securely around the hair.
