How to Make Bridal Receptions Survive
Sometimes, you need to give your bridal reception a little boost. There are plenty of fun ideas you can use to help your reception survive the doldrums. Keep some ideas in mind, and use them if you feel you need a survival plan for your bridal reception.
- Select a menu that both adults and children will appreciate. Give guests a choice of entrees, and have a wide selection on the buffet.
- Provide music that will give everyone an opportunity to enjoy dancing. A disc jockey can play a variety of music. Be sure the assortment varies such as country, rock, polkas and oldies. Ask the DJ whether he would be willing to accept requests so that everyone has a chance to hear favorite music.
- Provide entertainment for down times such as when the DJ takes a break or when the guests are waiting for the bride and groom to arrive. Be sure the bar is open and there are plenty of appetizers available. Activities during these periods could include a photo booth, a casino game or a slide show or video of the bridal couple.
- Consider playing a game or two to break the ice between guests. This may include games such as musical chairs and scavenger hunts or fun dances such as the chicken dance and the macarena.
- Plan activities for children in case they become bored. This could include having a play area set up or even a separate room. Include some games, puzzles and coloring books. You can provide outdoor entertainment if you have someone to supervise the children. This could include the rental of a jumping house or providing pony rides.
