How to Make Cloth Gift Bags
Many people choose to use cloth gift bags instead of paper bags because they are more durable. Giving someone a gift in a specially made bag will show the recipient that you took the time to make it look special. Not only are they nice, but they are also easy to make.
How to Make Cloth Gift Bags
Cut a piece of fabric twice the size of the gift bag you want to make.
Fold the fabric down approximately 1" along the top edge of the long side.
Use an iron to press down to make a casing.
Use a sewing machine to add a seam 3/4" from the folded edge. Backstitch once or twice to make sure it does not unravel.
Fold the fabric in half with the good siding facing inward.
Stitch a double seam along the bottom
Stitch a double seam up each side, stopping when you reach the casing.
Insert a satin ribbon through the casing
Fill the bag and pull the ribbon tightly.
