How to Make Crafts Projects From Trash

An easy and convenient way to recycle is to take unused materials and convert them into personalized arts and crafts projects. For previously planned projects, this is also an excellent way to save money. Even though finding trash is simple, ensure that you utilize precaution when selecting materials to use.

What You'll Need:

  • Dish or laundry soap

  • Protective gloves

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Paper

  • Fabric

  • Paints and brushes

  • Glitter

  • String

  • Needle

  • Flour or starch

  • Balloon

  1. Before you begin, ensure that you separate any potentially toxic garbage items from your materials before you proceed with the project. It's important to remember that items found in public trash bins may have been contaminated and not suitable for a craft project.

  2. Wear protective gloves if you are going to be working with sharp objects. This will ensure safety and help to avert any potentially dangerous accidents.

  3. Thoroughly wash the garbage per the suggested method.

  4. Cover any jars, cans, disposable containers or boxes in order to transform them into a decorative accent. You can glue on paper, decoupage or paint the jars in order to complete this step.

  5. Cut pictures from old magazines or books and decoupage the cutouts onto various craft projects such as books or collages.

  6. Remove buttons from old clothing if you plan to use the fabric for a craft project. You can use these same buttons to create eyes and noses on other craft projects.

  7. Cut out the cups from egg cartons and glue them together in order to create Christmas tree ornaments or bells. The outer portion of the cups can be decorated with glitter to further accent the design.
