How to Switch to DSL Internet Service

How to Make DSL Internet Faster

High-speed Internet is a sought-after feature in most homes today. DSL was one of the first types of higher speeds for Internet access. DSL consists of getting the speed from your existing phone line but often you need or want your Internet to be faster. There are some ways you can get your connection faster by making a few tweaks.

  1. Begin by testing your current
Internet speed by going to speedtest.com. Once you land on the page,
there will be a map as it will automatically calculate your location
or close to it. Just click on the location that is your city and
then the test will begin. Do not work on the computer while the test
    is being performed.

  2. Make a note of your speed test
results. When you finish making tweaks to your computer, you can
retest to see if you have gained any speed.

  3. Clear your Internet browser's
cache. Often this can become so bloated that it makes moving about
the Web much slower. For Internet Explorer, at the top click "Tools"
and then the option "Internet Options," under the Browsing History
tab choose "Delete" and be sure to check the "Cookies" and "Temporary Internet
    Files" options.
In Firefox, click "Edit," then choose "Preferences," go to the
Privacy tab and click on the "Clear Your Recent History" option. From the drop-down menu choose "Everything." Depending how
many files need to be deleted, this can take several minutes.

  4. Avoid downloading files while browsing the Web, because it can
significantly slow down your speed. You can also switch to a
lightweight browser that is faster than Internet Explorer. For
example, Google Chrome typically works faster and that makes your
overall speed of your DSL connection faster.
