How to Make Florist Bows
Getting a bouquet of flowers can make anyone’s day. But when the flowers begin to wilt, oftentimes all that is left is the beautiful bow they were tied together with. If you save and treasure these bows more than the flowers, you no longer have to wait until you receive a flower delivery! Making a florist bow is easy to do with these simple steps.
Things You’ll Need:
- Ribbon
- Bow tying wire (26 gauge)
- Scissors
Steps:
- Cut a length of ribbon. The size of your bow or how many loops you want will determine how long the ribbon is. You can always wait to cut the other side of the ribbon until the end so you don’t waste any lengths of ribbon.
- Grasp the ribbon, pinching it to make a loop on one side near the cut end. This loop should be the smallest in the bow, so plan accordingly. This will also determine how long the tails of your ribbon will be.
- Make additional loops, gradually increasing their size. These should be done somewhat symmetrically on both sides so that the bow looks professional. You can do this until the bow reaches the desired fullness or you reach the end of the ribbon. Be sure to leave enough length for the other tail of the ribbon. If this tail is longer than the other tail, you can always trim it to match.
- Fasten the bow securely with your bow tying wire by wrapping it around the center of the bow a couple times. Leave enough wire in the back so you can attach the bow to an object if desired.
- Fan out the loops of the bow and arrange them symmetrically. Trim the tails of the ribbon to make them even, either cutting at angles or in points to add a finishing touch.
