How to Make Homemade Carnauba Wax

Carnauba wax is hard when it is dry. This makes it a great protector for the surface of your car. The barrier it creates protects the paint so it lasts much longer. You can make your own at home and save a few dollars.

How to Make Homemade Carnauba Wax

Materials Needed

  • Double boiler

  • Carnauba wax

  • Linseed oil

  • Pure beeswax

  • White distilled vinegar

  • Container with a lid

  1. Prepare the double boiler for the ingredients. Add 4 tablespoons of carnauba wax to the upper portion of the double boiler. Make sure the carnauba wax is pure.

  2. Pour 1 cup of linseed oil into the double boiler. Add 2 tablespoons of pure beeswax. Next, add ½ cup of white distilled vinegar. Stir the ingredients.

  3. Melt the ingredients over medium heat. Stir the ingredients as they melt. Once the mixture is melted, remove the double boiler from heat and allow the mixture to cool for 30 minutes.

  4. Place a container on the counter. Pour the wax into the container and allow the wax to cool for one hour. Place the lid on the container. Make sure the container you use is resistant to heat so it does not crack or split.

  5. Make sure you go over the car with a cloth soaked in white distilled vinegar after you apply the wax. The vinegar will help create a shine. After the vinegar is applied, go over the car with a clean cloth. When you apply the carnauba wax, use circular motions and work on only one section at a time.
