How to Make Magician Wax

A little secret helpful to magicians before their tricks is wax.  Among many other things, magician’s wax can be used to hide “invisible” string, stick two cards together or attach a coin.  The wax is easy to make and almost anyone can use it.

  1. Purchase a glue stick from you local retail store.  You do not need a big stick.  In fact, the smaller sticks work better because they can be hidden inside the palm.  Make sure you get the white glue stick and not the one that is purple, which changes to white when it dries.  Purple will not work for magician’s wax.

  2. Remove the lid of the glue stick.

  3. Twist the bottom of the stick, pushing the glue stick all the way out of the container.

  4. Allow the glue stick to dry out overnight.  This will cause the glue to become the hard consistency of wax while still retaining some of the stickiness of the glue.

  5. Cut the amount of wax you need to use once it has completely dried.  Most tricks only require a small amount of wax.

  6. Twist the remaining glue back into the container.  This can be used at a later date for more magic tricks that require the magician’s wax.

  7. Put the lid back on the glue stick and keep it with your other magic supplies.

  8. Practice your new magician tricks with your clever wax.  You can make as much as you need, anytime you need it.  Keep making it and keep practicing bigger and better tricks.
