Face painting is an art that will always be popular with the children.  They are just as content with a small  butterfly on their face as they are with their whole face painted like Spiderman.  When wanting to learn how to make money with face painting, be sure to have all the necessary supplies, patience in learning the skill and the drive to go out and find employment opportunities.

Learn the art of face painting.  Face painting skills can be learned from studying books and watching other people.  You can also find online tutorials detailing how to paint a variety of designs.  Take your time and practice to fine tune your skills.

Buy the needed supplies.  When buying the face paint, make sure that it is FDA-compliant and water-based.  Do not use craft paint or acrylic paint.  A child’s skin is sensitive and the wrong paint may cause redness, irritation and staining.  Glitter is also used in face painting.  Be sure to use cosmetic glitter and not craft glitter.  To apply the paint, you will need brushes and sponges.  Be sure to buy good quality brushes in a variety of sizes.  Quality brushes are important, especially if you plan on face painting long term. 

Apply for employment.  Put in applications at amusement parks.  Many of these types of parks will hire face painters.  Restaurants or entertainment venues may also hire face painters for special occasions or festivals. 

Take part in special events.  This includes craft shows, children's carnivals, football games, 4-H shows and mall events.  You may be required to pay a fee to take part in these events.

Advertise your services.  Hand out business cards to party supply businesses, wedding apparel shops and catering services.  Make a website detailing your business.  Include examples of your face painting skills and let customers know you are available for parties such as birthdays, holidays and company parties.
