How to Make Poultry Feed

If you have a lot of chickens, you probably already know how expensive their food can be. You can save a lot of money by making your own poultry food for your chickens. Once you make the poultry feed, you can then store it for later use. You can learn how to make poultry feed in a few short steps.

Items Needed:

  • Aragonite

  • Salt

  • Probiotic

  • Crab meal

  • Flax seed

  • Nutri-balancer

  • Kelp

  • Fish meal

  • Cultured yeast

  • Alfalfa pellets

  • Peas

  • Oats

  • Corn

  • Wheat

  • Large 5 gallon buckets

  1. Purchase all of the ingredients that you will need to make your poultry feed. You should purchase organic products for your chicken. You can purchase these ingredients at any feed supply store in your area.

  2. Figure out where you will be making your poultry feed. You should have an area where you can have a sink and some counter space.

  3. Mix together the aragonite, salt, probiotic, crab meal, flax seed, nutria-balancer, kelp, fish meal, and cultured yeast. These ingredients will be your premix for your poultry food.

  4. Mix together in a separate area the alfalfa pellets, peas, oats, corn, wheat and barley. You will need to grind these ingredients together in a grinder.

  5. Put the premix feed, which is mixed to a finer and powdery ingredient. Measure it out in 25-lb bathes and store it in sterile buckets that have secure lids on them to protect the feed.

  6. Feed the chickens by getting out some of the premix and then adding the small grains into the premix whole. Mix it thoroughly by hand if you are feeding it to your chickens immediately. You can store it for later use, if you wish. Always mix with your hands before giving it to your chickens.
