How to Make Snow Boots for a Dog

Most people think of their pet as part of their family and would do anything in their power to keep them safe. It is not uncommon to see a dog walking around in the winter wearing snow boots to keep their paws dry.

If you like to take your dog out for walks during the winter you should consider making them a pair of snow boots.

  1. Use a tape measure to measure your dog's paws. This should be done by measuring from the bottom of the paw while the dog is in a standing position to a few inches just above the ankle bone, and then measure the width from one side of his paw to the other.

  2. Use the measurements to draw a rectangular on piece of paper.

  3. Use scissors to cut out the rectangle and place it on top of the fabric you are going to use. It is recommended that you use fleece.

  4. Use straight pins to secure the rectangle to the fabric.

  5. Use the scissors to cut around the rectangle on the fabric.

  6. Cut out a circle on a piece of vinyl fabric and place it at the bottom end of the piece of fleece you cut out. The circle should be slightly smaller than the rectangle.

  7. Sew the piece of vinyl in place either by hand or using a sewing machine.

  8. Use the tape measure to measure around your dog's angle and use the measure to cut a piece of elastic.

  9. Place the elastic 1/2-inch from the top of the material.

  10. Fold the material down over the elastic and sew it in place.

  11. Turn the boot inside out where the vinyl is on the bottom of the boot.

  12. Repeat the above steps and make the other boot.
