How to Make Soy Massage Candles
Soy massage candles are excellent for your skin and are fun to use. They make great presents and are wonderful for use during hot oil massages. Not only can you burn them like a regular candle, they can be poured directly onto your skin. You can make soy candles yourself which can be a fun project or a profitable adventure.
Materials needed:
- Double Boiler
- Water
- Three ounces of soy wax
- One ounce of liquid oil
- Half teaspoon of fragrance
- Wick
- Glass jars or tins
- Melt the soy wax and liquid oil together in a double boiler over simmering water. The better quality of soy wax you use, the better quality your candles will be. A few examples of types of liquid oil you can use are: almond oil, vitamin E oil and olive oil.
- Add fragrance, if desired. Stir slowly and carefully. Examples of fragrance are essential oils such as orange, jasmine, lemon and peppermint. You can use any fragrance you prefer.
- Place the wicks into the containers.
- Pour the wax mixture slowly into the containers. Because the mixture will be hot, use caution. You can wait until the wax cools down some before pouring, but make sure it is still a liquid and does not harden.
- Allow the candles to harden. This step will take three hours or more. Do not disturb the candles while they dry.
- Trim the wicks to the desired length. Make sure they are not too long to where they will bend or too short to where they will not burn. A quarter to a half-inch above the candle is appropriate.
- Burn the soy candle when ready.
