How to Make Wooden Patio Table Set
A wooden patio table set can set a tone for any patio. A wooden patio table is perfect for any outdoor occasion. With summer here and all the back yard cookouts and family get together there is nothing more perfect than making your own wooden patio table for everyone to enjoy.
- Gather your supplies. The supplies needed to make your wooden patio table are: Circular saw or table saw, hammer, combination square, tape measurer, goggles, wood glue, nails, sandpaper, drill, screws and wood stain if desired.
- Draft or purchase plans for your wooden table. Once you have come up with and idea that best suits you, you will need to purchase the boards of your choice.
- Set up your circular or table saw. Make sure you have a nice space around your work area for all your needed equipment.
- Place all equipment within reaching distance from where you set up the saw.
- Measure all the boards to appropriate size with your tape measurer. Mark all lengths at where the board will need to be cut.
- Cut all boards to the appropriate size that is called for in your draft. When using your saw wear goggles to protect your eyes.
- Use your sandpaper and sand all your cut pieces. You want your pieces to be very smooth.
- Organize all your cut pieces in the appropriate order. As in the leg pieces all need to be together, the top of the table pieces need to be together, etc.
- Connect all the table parts together first. You may choose to use wood glue, nails or screws in this part, whichever will suit you best.
- Sand the top of the table again to make sure you have no rough pieces. This is easier to do before you attach the legs to the table.
- Pick up the leg pieces and attach them to the appropriate spot on the table top. You will need to use your drill and screws to attach the legs for best support.
- Apply wood stain of your choice if you desire. The wood stain will make your finished product look better and last longer.
