How to Make Your Own Alkaline Drinking Water
Alkaline water offers a variety of health benefits. Many people use alkaline water as a detox drink and to boost the immune system. Alkaline water is available for purchase at many nutrition centers and online health stores. You can make your own Alkaline drinking water in three ways by using a few everyday items.
Items Needed
- pH test strips
- Baking soda
- 1 gallon distilled water
- Tap water
- Water ionizing machine
- Alkaline drops
Method 1:
Add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda to the gallon of distilled water. Shake the jug to mix the ingredients thoroughly. Use the pH test strips to check the pH level of the distilled water. The pH level should be between 8.5 and 9. If the level is too low, add a little more baking soda to make it higher.
Method 2:
Add the alkaline drops to the gallon jug. The amount of drops depends on the brand of akaline drops you have. Read the directions on the back of the alkaline drop bottle to find out how many drops you should add. Keep your alkaline water in a refrigerator or other cool place.
Method 3:
Purchase a water-ionizing machine. A water-ionizing machine raises the pH level of your tap water as it runs through a filter and out of your faucet. These machines can attach directly to your faucet and turn your tap water into alkaline water. Water-ionizing machines can be purchased online and in many pharmacies. They cost between $100 and $300.
