How to Make Your Own Dance Video

If you have dance moves you’d like to show off to your friends or even the world, then you’ll want to make a dance video. Making one requires active participation from all the dancers. In addition, you will need some technical skills to record and edit it.

• Select the music you would like to dance to. Consider how you wish to play the music while you are dancing. This could be through a portable stereo system or through a small public address speaker system.


• Plan your dance moves with everyone involved. This includes rehearsing your dance steps so that your dance video will look choreographed. Practice your dance moves until you are satisfied.


• Decide whether you will coordinate outfits. Some dance styles require people to wear similar wardrobes. For other styles of dance, dress will not be an important consideration.


• Secure a video camera to record your dance. Once you have one, you need an operator to capture your performance.


• Edit the video to your liking. Although many dance videos are recorded in a single take, there are probably still minor edits that need to be made. Video editing is easiest on the computer, so make sure that you can download your video file to your computer after you have finished recording.


• Decide where you want to share your dance video. If you want to upload it to a service like YouTube, then you need to upload it to their servers. If you want to share it with friends, then burn some DVDs of your performance for them to play on their televisions or computers.
