How to Make a Birthday Card in Microsoft Word
Birthday cards are a great way to stay in touch with friends and family, but finding the perfect card with just the right sentiment is sometimes difficult. If you have a computer which has the Microsoft Word program installed, you can use a bit of your time and creativity to make your own custom cards for any occasion.
1. Power up your computer and open your Microsoft Word program. Select "File" and "New" from the tool bar.
2. Use Word's template search feature to find a template. Type "birthday card" into the search box and press the enter key. When the results are displayed, select the link to load the preview screen.
3. Use the scroll feature to find a birthday themed template that you would like to use.
4. The templates are pre-populated with images. However, if there are some you want to remove, select the image and use the delete key to delete from your card.
5. If you want to add personal images to your card from your computer, click on "Insert" and "Picture." Go to the appropriate file in which the image is in and double-click the image. It will automatically be inserted into your card.
6. Select your image and use the Picture toolbar to perform any necessary rotation for the placement on your card. This can be done by selecting the "Text Wrap" button. Use the command "Tight." Rotate your image using this feature until it is in its proper placement on the card.
7. Use the text feature in the template to type "Happy Birthday" and press enter. Double space and type any other personalized message or greeting you want to express. If you choose, the font, style and color of the type can be changed by selecting "Formatting" in the tool bar.
8. To digitally save your card, select "File" from the toolbar and "Save." If you are also printing your card select "Print" after saving it. If printing, remove the card from the printer tray and fold to the appropriate envelope size. Place it in an envelope for delivery. However, if you are digitally sending the card, open up your recipient's email and use the commands on the screen to attach the card file and hit send for electronic delivery.
