How to Make a Concrete Stamp

Creating a concrete stamp is an economical approach to adding unique designs to concrete work. Making a concrete stamp lets the artist create a design that will fit their décor and style. Creating a concrete stamp will allow for multiple uses over time, making it an even smarter decision then calling in a professional.

Things you’ll need:

  • Liquid rubber

  • Stamp design

  • Aerosol stamp release

  • Bucket

  • Sealant

  1. Seal the item that you are using to create the mold. This only applies if the item is very porous. If the item is not porous then this step is not necessary. Sealing an item eliminates the liquid stamp from getting down into the pours and sticking to the object.

  2. Lay out the item that you will be using to create the mold. This has to be placed on a flat level surface to ensure the liquid mold is evenly distributed around the entire mold.

  3. Mix the liquid rubber in the bucket by following the manufacturer's recommendations. You will have to work quick as liquid rubber tends to set rapidly. The instructions will give you an idea of how fast it will set.

  4. Spray the entire outside of the mold with the stamp release. This gives it a slick surface so that the liquid stamp will not get stuck to the mold.

  5. Pour the rubber in the center of the mold allowing it to flow and even itself out. Start out with only a small amount and add layers of rubber. This will create a much stronger and longer lasting mold.

  6. Follow the manufacturer's suggestions for drying time and allow the rubber mold to dry completely. Once the mold has set, slowly peel it off of the mold being careful not to tear the rubber. Once you have gotten it off the mold it is ready to be used in whatever project you decide.
