How to Make a Flower Pot From a Tea Cup
Teacups make great flowerpots and can help add a classic touch to any room of the house. Teacups can be used much like other types of flowerpots. Because most teacups are smaller than the average flowerpot, they do not work well with large plants or plants with long or thick roots.
- Clean the teacup and remove any stain or dirt that may be present. Use a toothbrush and some baking soda to remove any stuck on stain or dirt. Use a paper towel to dry the teacup.
- Decide if you want to plant seeds or a plant in the teacup. This will determine how much dirt to place in the teacup. Purchase the type or seeds or plants you want to plant.
- Fill the teacup with potting soil. If you are planting seeds, fill the teacup 3/4 of the way. If you are planting a plant in the teacup, fill it up 1/2 way with potting soil.
- Use your finger to poke small holes in the soil. Place a seed in each hole. The amount of seeds you use will depend on the size of the plants and teacup. You do not want to over crowd the plants. If you are planting a plant, place the place in the teacup and add a little more soil on top of the roots to hold it in place.
- Water the plants and seeds. If you plan to use plant food, follow the directions on the package and add it to the teacup.
- Place the teacup in an area that can provide the proper amount of sunlight. Some plants require a lot of sunlight and others will require a small amount or none at all. It is best to read the see package or plant tag to see how much sunshine your plants need.
