How to Make a Gift Basket
A gift basket is a wonderful way to combine a variety of items into one gift. Whether the gift is for a birthday, holiday or any type of appreciation, it is simple to make a gift basket. Anyone can make a gift basket by following these simple steps:
Purchase the items you wish to give as a gift. If it is one big item, find some smaller items to accent the item. For instance, if you are giving a bottle of wine, purchase some wine glasses, coasters or a cork screw.
Find a basket or box that will hold the items comfortably.
Place newspaper, bubble wrap or other stuffing in the bottom of the box or basket.
Set the items inside the basket or box so that they are sitting just slightly lower than the top edge. Place the largest item in the center of the basket or box. Put all of the smaller items around the larger item.
Fill in around the items with tissue paper or shredded paper so that the base stuffing cannot be seen.
Cover the basket or box with cellophane. There are many varieties of cellophane on the market today including clear, colored and patterned.
The cellophane should be gathered at the top of the basket or box. Use a string or tape to tie the cellophane.
Use a colorful ribbon and bow to decorate the top of the basket or box where the cellophane is gathered.
The top of the cellophane should not exceed one quarter of the size of the basket or box. Cut any excess cellophane off after securing the bows and ribbons.
Add a gift tag to the basket. Tying the tag to one of the ribbons is attractive. The gift is now ready for presentation.
