How to Make a Healthy Breakfast for Kids
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. With the start of school right around the corner, you will want to make sure your kids are well nourished with nutritious and healthy brain foods before you send them off to learn.
- Eggs are one of the most nutritious morning foods. They provide a great source of protein, vitamins and fats. They are also a great source of energy but make sure not to overdo it as too many eggs could raise your kid’s cholesterol. You can poach your eggs, make an omelet, hard boil them, fry them or if you've got the extra time or make eggs benedict which is a delicious spin to a breakfast.
- Oatmeal provides your child with the needed fiber in their diet as well as lowers cholesterol. To make it a bit more appealing to the little one, add some dried fruit or nuts on top.
- Fruit smoothies are not only delicious but they provide the essential vitamins to keep your child healthy and ready to conquer their school work. You can mix it up and make a mango and strawberry smoothie, banana and strawberry smoothie, mixed berry smoothie or even try out a tropical mix like mango, strawberry and pineapple smoothie. Try to use fresh produce and not the frozen prepackaged smoothie mixes sold in stores.
- Stick to whole grain or wheat pancakes or waffles. They are much healthier than other alternatives. Add some sugar-free syrup or fresh fruit on top of this delicious healthy meal.
