How to Make a Natural Skin Lightener for the Face at Home

When you want to lighten your skin, the most effective products can be found right in your kitchen. They are also the healthiest for your skin. Use this homemade recipe to remove a tan or get a creamy, paler complexion.

Items Needed:

  • 2 teaspoons yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Mixing bowl

  • Spoon

Directions:

  1. Before using, you will want to exfoliate your skin. Do this a few hours before use, so you will not irritate your skin. Exfoliation removes any dead skin cells, allowing the lightening mixture to penetrate the skin deeper and evenly.

  2. Pull hair back into a ponytail and wear a band to protect around your hairline. In the bowl, mix the yogurt and lemon juice together. Apply to your face, avoiding the eyes and mouth.

  3. Allow the mixture to sit on your face for at least 20 minutes.

  4. Rinse thoroughly. Pat skin dry and follow with a moisturizer.

  5. Use twice a day.

Lemon juice has been used traditionally for a skin lightener for hundreds of years. This recipe could easily be doubled or tripled and stored in the refrigerator. Lemon juice can also be irritating. If your skin becomes irritated, use only once per day. You can also change the recipe to lessen the irritation. Simply use 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice to two teaspoons of yogurt.

Skin lightening will be a gradual process. Continue to use this recipe for as long as necessary. Always follow with a good moisturizer.
