How to Make an Electric RC Car Motor Go Faster

For radio controlled car enthusiasts, it’s all about going fast and having fun. Some cars can go fast with the motor it comes with. However, depending on how you plan to use it, and where you want to drive it, you may want your car to go even faster. There are some ways of making a RC car motor faster without having to purchase a faster motor.

• Switch the oil you use to a lighter lubricating one. Something light may work better in place of the grease that the manual will most likely call for. It will make the transmission more efficient and will prevent the other interior parts from getting clogged with heavy grease.


• Run your car for a few hours after installing the engine so you can break it in. Take off the car’s body and drive the car around at a low speed. Continue doing so until you go through two tanks. Doing this warms up the car’s carburetor so that it can achieve faster speeds.


• Inspect the car’s gears and interior parts to see if they are working correctly. Make sure that none of the parts get stuck and that all the rotating parts move freely. If there is anything obstructing the gears, clean it out using compressed air.


• Change your car’s chassis from the stock one to an aftermarket alloy chassis with a conversion set. An alloy chassis is stronger, yet lighter, making it possible to reach higher speeds. When choosing a set, make sure that it compatible with your car, and follow all the direction when switching out the car parts.


• Use aluminum shocks rather than plastic ones. These will be lighter than the plastic ones your car will most likely come equipped with. They are also more durable and more flexible, making it easier to go over different terrain. You can purchase aftermarket ones. Build the shock towers, and check that they are the same height before securing your car’s   chassis onto them.


• Replace your car’s battery with a NiMH battery. A NiMH battery is higher quality and has a higher capacity. The higher power of this battery will help you more power, usage and help your car become more efficient.
