How to Make an Electronic Bird Call

In previous times, bird watchers would listen to a bird's sound and then try to reenact it in order to call other birds closer. With advancements in technology, bird watchers no longer have to intimate these birdcalls. Utilizing the technology of an MP3 player you can create and electronic birdcall.

What You'll Need:

  • Computer

  • Computer with access to the InternetMP3 player

  • Mini speakers

  1. Utilize the Internet to determine what type of bird you would like to call. You can perform a search for that bird to gain further information about its calls. Look for any downloadable MP3 files of that bird's song and call. You may also consider speaking with a representative from a naturalist club; they often have libraries of bird songs and calls.

  2. Once you’ve found a song and call you like, click on the birdcall and begin the download process to download it to your computer.

  3. You can use your MP3 upload program to upload the bird call to your MP3 player to play it

  4. Consider pre-loading your MP3 player with more than one birdcall. Repeat the previous steps in order to do so.

  5. Connect your portable speakers to your MP3 system. Look for a particularly small speaker set as to not scare the birds away.

  6. Move to a field or other forested area where the bird you want to call usually lives. Consider using a bird blind to make yourself inconspicuous whether in the grass or trees.

  7. Select which track that you would like to play and press play on your MP3 player. The birdcall will begin to play. You can continue repeating this step until you start to see birds arriving.
