How to Make an Office Chair Cover
If you want to give your office chair a new and stylish look, you can make a chair cover for it rather inexpensively. A chair cover can also be used to protect your office chair by keeping it durable and clean.
Materials Needed:
- Fabric
- Screwdriver
- Measuring tape
- Needle and thread
- Remove the seat and back of the chair. Look underneath the chair for screws that hold the seat in place and unscrew those. There may also be screws on the back of the seat holding it down as well.
- Obtain the correct measurement for the back and bottom of the chair by measuring the cushions. The bottom and back of the chair are sometimes one piece. If this is the case for your chair, decide whether you want to cover the entire piece or cover the back and set separately.
- Add an additional 6 inches to your measurements before you cut the fabric. For example, if the seat measurement is 2-feet-wide, then the total about of material you will cut will be 2 feet, 6 inches. If you have a one-piece office chair, include the measurement from the connecting piece to cover both the top and bottom. Generally one-piece chair covers when cut have the shape of an hourglass. Make sure the material of the fabric you choose is comfortable.
- Create a hem by folding the fabric over 1/2 inch. Hem around the entire fabric piece. Cut a small hole in the fold of the hem. This will allow your space to slip the chair cover on your office chair.
