How to Make an RC Jet
Remote controlled jets are a fun hobby, but building one of these jets takes someone who is very detailed oriented and has previous experience. This is not a project for a beginner builder as the slightest mistake can mean the difference between a jet that does what it is controlled to do and a jet that flies into the ground.
Things you’ll need:
- RC model kit
- Glue
- Battery
- Drill
- Heat gun
- Sandpaper
- Clear tape
- Purchase the radio controlled jet model kit from a local hobby shop. You may be able to find a hobby shop that specializes in this specific type of hobby.
- Clean off a big area so that you have plenty of room when building the jet.
- Locate and remove the building directions from the box of the jet model. Verify that all of the pieces are included and came in the box. Bunch the pieces together that are similar. Place all of the tires together and screws together and so on.
- Read the directions carefully before starting the building process. Each step will need to be followed exactly how it is written, or the jet may not fly when finished building.
- Start building the RC jet from the inside out. All of the electrical parts will have to be completed first before any of the outside body can be put together.
- Using the glue, put all of the outside pieces together. The directions will lay out exactly how this needs to be done.
- Paint your new RC jet when it is completely put together. Sand any rough edges before painting to ensure a smooth finish.
- Take the RC jet to a wide-open area to test it out. Turn on the jet and then the remote control and prepare for takeoff.
