How to Market Yourself as a Rap Artist

Becoming a rap artist is easier than ever before. 1. Create mix tapes:  These are tapes or CDs designed to be showcase samples, so that important decision makers can hear your skills. Keep lots of them on hand and always have them on hand to pass out. These are like business cards, so you should always have them ready and updated to present to the right people.


2. Make Music Industry Connections:  Music industry connections are D.J.s, producers, A and R executives, other more established rap artist and anyone else who could help to get your career off the ground, or further your rap artist career to the next level. Do your research, and find out who the current industry "players" are. Be sure to let these insiders know who you are.


3. Create Social Media Presence: There is not a celebrity alive nowadays that is not using social media to communicate with their fan base, and to market themselves. Many of the latest names in rap, and in other genres were noticed because of their social media pages. Make sure that your social media page represents you well as a rap artist.  Also, make sure that you are marketing yourself to music executives, and to your followers in a way that expresses your marketing brand well. Use your social media followers as proof that you can attract fans.


4. Create online videos: Use websites like YouTube or others to create videos of yourself, showing off your talents and skills. These are excellent tools to show music executives that you cannot only rap, but you know how to present yourself well. This can also be used to show that you can attract fans as a rap artist.
