How to Massage Scar Tissue
An unsightly scar is something nobody wants to live with forever; fortunately, there are methods for scar removal that are quite effective at removing both new and old scars. The process of deep connective tissue massage is an excellent option for naturally removing built-up scar tissue, freeing you from that unwanted scar.
- Massage the effected area with your knuckles, avoiding the use of your thumbs. Using thumbs can lead to injury. Apply pressure with the first two fingers on your prominent hand, you can also use the knuckles if needed depending on the size of the scar.
- Knead the muscles underneath the area that has the scar using your first two fingers and knuckles if the area is smaller. If the application is needed for a larger area you may use your fingertips as well.
- Push down applying pressure to the muscle only to the point of resistance. Once the muscle that shows signs of resistance will ease up on pressure without completely removing the pressure.
- Wait for the muscle to relax, this will allow you to have access to the tissue underneath the muscle.
- Repeat the process using your knuckles applying deep pressure once again. This time you will be able to penetrate tissue below the muscle. Once you feel the muscle begin to resist, let off of pressure slowly and remove pressure completely after a couple of minutes.
- Repeat the process numerous times. Each time you repeat the process you will be penetrating the deeper lying tissue that will help to break up the scar tissue and slowly diminish the scar.
- Work on one area of the body at a time. If you are working on a scar on the back for example, only work on this area during this session. Your body will respond to the procedure better if only focusing on a single area at a time.
TIP: This procedure will have to be repeated numerous times to be successful. It is recommended that you perform this treatment once a day until the desired results are achieved.
