How to Match Appliances Without Buying New Ones
Regardless of the reason as to why you want to change the look of your kitchen appliances, you should know that this is easy to do without ever having to purchase new ones. Even if you have a small budget to work with you can still change your appliances’ look and create more balance within your kitchen. It will take a little time and effort to obtain the desired look.
- Use appliance paint. A professional look can be achieved for little cost. However, you do need to follow the instructions carefully or else you could damage your appliances. It is also important to make sure that the area is very well ventilated because the fumes can be toxic.
- Use stainless steel foil. This is a great way to achieve the look of stainless steel without the cost. You can easily install this foil by measuring and cutting to size then peeling off the backing and attaching it to your appliances. Stainless steel foil is quite affordable. In fact, depending on the size, you can probably cover all of your appliances for under $200.
- Use a cabinet like finish. This is a great way to easily upgrade your appliances so that they will match your cabinets. If you are good with power tools, you can probably do this yourself. The price will vary based upon the size of your appliances and the materials that you use.
- Use colored Plexiglass. This works well if you want to add some color to the room. Plexiglass comes in a lot of different colors so you can choose one that you like. You can then either make your own panel or purchase a trim kit. If you want to use this on your refrigerator you will pay anywhere from $80 to $150 depending upon the size of your refrigerator.
- Use your dishwasher’s insert to your advantage by flipping it around. This is something that a lot of people have no knowledge of. The back of your dishwasher panel will be either white or black. By switching it around you will be able to easily match your other appliances for free.
