How to Measure Moving Trucks
When you’re considering moving it’s important to know how large of a moving truck you’ll need. Moving trucks come in many different sizes. To choose the right sized moving truck, you’ll need to know how to measure them or know what moving companies' advertised measurements mean.
Items Needed:
- Measuring tape
- Use your measuring tape to find the height, width and length of your moving truck. You’ll need to know if your driveway is large enough to park the moving truck there while you load and unload your stuff. If you have a covered driveway or garage you’ll want to make sure the truck isn’t too tall to fit inside.
- Use your measuring tape to measure the inside of your cargo hull.
- Find the height, width, cubic space and length of your cargo space. Most truck rental or moving companies will tell you the size of all the truck’s cargo holding dimensions.
- Determine the fuel economy of your moving truck and the distance you can travel with one tank full of gas. Note that a truck full of furniture or freight will use more gas.
- Shop different moving and truck rental companies to find out what company offers the most features and benefits. Most moving trucks are pretty comfortable and fairly easy to drive. You can choose an automatic or manual transmission depending on your preference. Most moving trucks come with air condition and extra seating. You can choose a diesel engine moving truck if you prefer that type of engine. Talk to several moving companies to find the one that is most economical for you.
