How to Mix Car Wash Wax

There are many different types of car waxes available on the market. Car wax can help protect your car's paint job and keep it look nice, shiny and new. If you do not want to purchase car wax, or cannot find a type you like, you can mix car wax to create a new wax that fits all your needs.

Supplies needed:

  • 1 cup linseed oil

  • 4 tablespoons carnauba wax

  • 2 tablespoons beeswax

  • 1 cup vinegar

  • Heat safe container

  • Double boiler

  • 3 cloths for waxing and removing wax

  1. Turn stove on to the low heat setting. Place the double boiler on the stove. The double boiler will help heat the wax gently, and keep it from burning.

  2. Combine all of the beeswax, all of the carnauba wax, all of the linseed oil, and half a cup of the vinegar into the top portion of the double boiler. Place a small amount of water in the bottom portion.

  3. Continue heating mixture until all of the wax has melted.

  4. Pour melted mixture into a heat safe container.

  5. Allow your container of wax to harden before you use it.

  6. Apply the hardened wax to a small area of your vehicle using a cloth. Wait a few minutes on the wax to dry before attempting to clean it off.

  7. Use another clean cloth to wipe the wax off of your vehicle.

  8. Dip another clean cloth into the remaining ½ cup of vinegar.

  9. Use the vinegar cloth to remove any residue that may have been left behind by the car wax.

  10. Continue applying and removing the wax as needed until the rest of the vehicle has been thoroughly waxed.
