How to Mix Different Hair Dye Colors
Most women opt at one time or another to color their hair. Most women choose to have their hair color at a beauty salon, and others choose to do it at home. Thus, there is a huge assortment of color choices to choose in every shade, but sometimes a woman may want to blend different colors to achieve a specific look.
Materials
- Shampoo
- Towel
- Hair dye
- Disposable gloves
- Scissors
- Small squirt bottle
- Choose two complementary colors to combine. Do not select opposite colors because they would not look good together. Color combination options to consider are red and brown if you want a deep auburn color. Avoid mixing any dominant colors such as blonde and black because they won't mix properly and won't look good.
- Shampoo your hair before you start the dying process. Shampooing the hair is necessary before you dye the hair because dirt and oil on the scalp will diminish the effect of the dye causing it not to bind properly.
- Dry the hair with the towel to remove moisture from the hair and let it air dry before you start applying the dye mixture.
- Obtain the dye solution and put your disposable gloves on. Mix the dye color together following the manufacturer's direction carefully. Open each of the dye base packages in the kit and place each in a separate bottle. Take the color activator and add to each of the dye base solution, cover the bottles and shake the ingredients to combine.
- Clip the tip of the dye bottle and open the squirt bottle. Add half of one color in the squirt bottle then add the other half. Do this step until the dye is finished then put the lid back on. Secure the tip using your fingertips and shake the bottle a couple of times to combine fully.
- Wait approximately 15 minutes so the dye colors combine properly. Use a little bit of the dye solution, and apply to the back of your hair to test. Leave it on the test area based on the time indicated in the dye instructions. Wash and dry as normal and check if you like the results.
