How to Move Appliances Without Scratching the Floor
Moving big appliances around your room can cause scratches to your floor. To avoid damaging your floor and possibly having to pay huge repair costs, there are steps you can take. Furniture floor gliders can be used to make moving your furniture around a lot easier. These gliders can be purchased at most home improvement or hardware stores. You can usually find them in a box as a set of four.
Items needed:
- Furniture gliders
- Tape measure or yard stick
Instructions:
- Measure the width of your appliance's legs with a tape measure or yard stick. Purchase them a little wider than the width taken when you purchase your furniture floor gliders.
- Remove the paper from the back of one side of the glider. Make sure household appliances that need to be moved are unplugged at this point.
- Turn the glider so the sticky side is facing upward. Lift the front corner of the appliance on the left side. Slide the sticky side of the glider up under the appliance. Place it on the bottom of the left front corner. Set your appliance down. If your appliance is really heavy you may need help. Repeat this process until all gliders have been put on the corners of your appliances.
- Position yourself at the back of the appliance. Depending upon your size you may want some help to push your appliance around. Push and slide your appliance into the location where you want it. Your appliance moves and glides easily across your floor. You do not have to worry about any scrapes or scratches on your floor. The gliders do not have to be removed, you may leave them on for the next time you want to move your appliances around.
