How to Move a Garden Shed

If you need to move a garden shed, it is simple to do. Depending upon the size of it, you may only need to ask a few friends to help you move the garden shed. If it is larger, you will need some kind of vehicle to move it, which you may have to rent. Either way, you can move a garden shed in a few short steps.

  1. Put jacks beneath the four corners of the garden shed. You may need to dig under the garden shed using a shovel to get access to each of the four corners on it. Having friends help you with this process will make it much easier and faster.

  2. Use studs to stabilize the walls inside the garden shed.

  3. Make the garden shed sturdy by placing pieces of wood on the floor of the inside of the garden shed. Place the wood in an X shape on the floor.

  4. Ask friends to help you move the shed if it is small enough for a group of people to pick up and move. If you have a pickup trick and the shed is not too heavy, they can help you lift it on the truck to move it.

  5. Use a vehicle to move the shed if it is too big to be picked up. Use a tow hook on the front corners of the shed, and attach the other end of the tow hook to the vehicle you will be using.

  6. Use the vehicle to move the shed where you want it to go. Go very slowly and have someone help you watch the shed as it is being moved.
