How to Open Rolex Watchbands
Hans Wildorf founded the Rolex watch company with interests in the wristwatch. He was concerned about dust and moisture permeating the watch. The company was built on high quality watches, and it maintains those same standards today. The clasp may be difficult to open the first time, as Rolex has developed a clasp that holds up under strenuous conditions.
Items Needed:
- Fingernail or nail file
- Small magnifying glass
- Soft cloth
- Place a soft cloth on a counter or table to protect the watch, in case it is accidentally dropped during the process.
- Right-handed people should hold the Rolex wristwatch in the left hand over the soft cloth. Left-handed people should hold the watch in the right hand. If removing the watchband from the wrist, hold the wrist over the soft cloth.
- Examine the watch with the naked eye or a small magnifying glass directly above the small crown on the bracelet clasp.
- Locate a small metal tab, which is present on most all Rolex watches, regardless of the model.
- Slip a fingernail or nail file under the indentation above the small crown and flip the metal tab out. This is called a flip-lock, which is a Rolex design to protect the investment and assure that the watch does not fall off even in rugged wear.
- Reaching under the flip-lock with a fingernail or nail file, pull-up on the metal clasp until it uncouples.
- Flip the clasp back with a fingernail or nail file allowing the metal tabs to unfold.
- Place the watchband on the wrist or remove from the wrist.
