How to Open a Crabtree & Evelyn Pump Dispenser
Crabtree & Evelyn offer a wide variety of soaps, lotions and body washes that are available in a pump dispenser. This type of dispenser is very convenient, since you can dispense product using only one hand if needed. Before you can use your pump dispenser, you must open it and prime the pump.
- Place the pump dispenser on a flat surface. This helps to keep the dispenser steady in case it is closed too tightly. Although most pump dispensers are quite secure, spills can happen. You may want to make sure you are in a location that you can easily clean in the event of an unfortunate spill.
- Firmly grasp the base of the pump dispenser with one hand. With your other hand, twist the pump portion at the very top of the dispenser to the left. Be careful not to twist the screw top portion, since this will simply remove the pump from the dispenser bottle.
- Turn until the pump raises from the screw top of the pump dispenser. Sometimes pump dispensers release but do not raise fully, so you may have to raise the pump by hand.
- Leave the pump dispenser on the flat surface and depress the pump several times to prime it. Use firm pressure and a smooth pumping motion to get as much of the product moving through the dispenser's pump as possible. When the dispenser begins dispensing product, it is ready for you to use. Because there is a lot of air in pump dispensers before their first use, you will probably have to pump the dispenser multiple times before it is ready for use.
