How to Open a Home-Based Party Store

There are many different home-based business options that do not require a huge start-up cost to begin.  One of the most fun and lucrative options is a home-based party store.  You can sell party supplies and decorations while enjoying a flexible schedule and a good income.

  1. Choose your parent company.  The two main options for parent companies are affiliate companies or drop-shipping companies.  When you register with either of these companies, you will become an affiliate.  You will not need to maintain your own inventory, though it is a good idea to have a few supplies on hand to show possible customers.  You will be responsible for advertising and selling the supplies, and the drop-ship or affiliate company will ship the supplies to the customer on your behalf.  You will then earn a commission from the sale.  Generally the commission is a predetermined percentage ranging from 10 to 50 percent.  Some affiliate companies provide their affiliates with their own party website and give the affiliate a certain percentage of all sales through their website.  Do your research before you make a commitment to a particular company.

  2. Develop a website.  If your parent company does not provide you with a start-up website, take the time to develop your own.  List all of the products and supplies that you have available for sale and detailed instructions for making a purchase through your site or through you personally.  Include your direct contact information should customers wish to speak to you or see supply samples.

  3. Advertise your business.  Tell friends and family about your home-based business and have them help spread the word.  Share your website on social media networks and advertise sales and specials that way to reach an enormous potential customer base.
