How to Order Topsoil
One of the most important elements in growing a healthy garden or lawn is using quality top soil. Top soil should be added to the garden or lawn when dirt becomes eroded. Ordering top soil isn’t tough since there are a wide variety of soil retailers nationwide.
- Figure out how many cubic yards you need to cover with the top soil. You can do this by using a measuring tape to get the width, length and depth of the entire area you intend to fill with soil. Multiply the width and length for the total number of square feet. Multiply the total number of square feet by the depth for how many cubic feed you need.
- Visit a local lawn and garden shop or nursery to order the amount of top soil needed. Take this opportunity to look through top soil samples. Put the some soil samples in your hands and pour water on them to see which kinds absorb water the best.
- Call a local landscaping service inside your phone book to ask them about supplying you with top soil. The landscaping company can even measure the area and lay the top soil down for you if you wish. Keep in mind that there will probably be extra expenses doing the job this way.
- Decide which type of top soil you need. There are top soils made for lawns, gardens and for other projects. You’ll need to choose the type of type soil that fits your project. If you need help, ask a lawn or garden expert about which top soil to choose.
