How to Organize Baby Toys

It is easy to become overwhelmed with baby toys in a house with one or more child.  For this reason, it is important to create a system to keep all of your baby's toys organized.  Baby toy organization starts with an honest assessment of all the baby toys in your home and then determining the system that is best for you and your baby.

    • Before starting to organize baby toys, take an honest look at all toys. Donate the ones that your baby does not play with anymore and store the ones that your baby is not yet old enough for.  This will help you determine how to organize baby toys.

    • If, after storing and donating the maximum amount of toys, you find that you still have more toys than can comfortably stay organized in a play area, create a separate box of toys to store in an easy location. Every once in a while, you can swap toys from the playroom with those from the extra box.

    • Select toys that your child plays with often and store them on shelves at eye level for your baby to make them easily accessible for baby. Toys used less frequently can be put at higher levels.

    • Purchase a toy box for larger toys and smaller baskets and containers for smaller ones.

    • Consider labeling the different baskets to ensure organization when others visit or during rushed times. This will save time reorganizing later.

    • Ensure that your baby learns good habits by picking up toys often. As your baby gets older, they can help you during clean-up times.
