How to Organize Music CDs

When you bought your first music compact disc (CD), remembering where you put it was easy. A Few years and a few hundred CDs later, however, the sheer number of CDs in your collection can easily become a nightmare to dig through to find your favorite song of the moment. Organizing your CDs makes finding your music much easier.

  1. Buy a CD storage rack from the store. If they're too expensive then try getting a simple wooden or plastic shelf. These don't need to be too big, just sturdy enough to hold a lot of CDs.

  2. Sort out your CDs. You can try sorting them out by genre (Jazz, Rap, Rock, Country, New Age, etc.) and then alphabetically, or just organize them all by alphabetical order.

  3. Buy a small CD tower where you listen to your music the most. This won't contain all your CDs, just your most favorite ones. When you want to swap CDs in the CD player this gives you a temporary place to put it instead of going back to the CD storage rack and wasting time putting it back in its place.
