How to Pack for a Caribbean Cruise

The 15th can't get here fast enough. You and your best friend are about to head out to sea for a cruise vacation. Eight days and seven nights of fun, relaxing and eating enough good food to gain 20 pounds. You should start packing now just to get it out of the way. You hate packing so much that your mom would have to pack for you when you went on overnight sleepovers. Still you say, "ugh." Well, here goes nothing.

  1. Create a list of all the things you need: deodorant, lotion, sunscreen, pain reliever, sea-sick medications, sandals, rain gear, extra bathing suit or anything else that you think may need or want to carry with you.

  2. Go for colors that can easily be matched with each other. Black and white, brown and beige, blue and yellow or whatever makes you comfortable.

  3. Bring comfortable clothes that are easy to layer with each other. Comfy tops and shorts are great for daytime, while casual chic would be perfect for the evening festivities.

  4. Pack at least one bathing suit and a cover-up. The ship should provide your beach towels.

  5. Don't forget your shoes. These three types of shoes are a must-have for cruises: rubber-soled shoes for strolls on the deck, sandals or any comfortable shoe for port trips and something nice for the evening.

  6. Bring a nice-sized hat to keep away the sunrays, sunglasses and any medications that you take on a daily basis. Consult your personal medical care provider before embarking on a cruise. Bon Voyage!
