How to Paint White Appliances Black
If you are tired of looking at the same old white appliances in your kitchen, but cannot afford to purchase new ones you should consider painting them. Black appliances are becoming more and more popular as time go on and look great in kitchens.
- Unplug the appliance you are painting from the power source.
- Remove any removable knobs or cover the knobs with masking tape if they are not removable.
- Cover appliance surface panels or the window on the stove with craft paper and secure it with tape. You will also need to place some craft paper around the handles, electrical cords or anything that may be protruding from the appliance.
- Purchase a spray paint that is specifically made to use on appliances.
- Hold the spray can approximately 10-inches away from the appliance and spray and even layer of paint over the surface of the appliance. It is best to spray in 2-second bursts while shaking the can between each burst to ensure the paint goes on evenly. Spraying the paint on the appliance in a continual motion will cause the paint to run.
- Allow the paint to dry for at least 24 hours.
- Turn the appliance on its side after the paint has completely dried. It is recommended that you have someone to help you do this so you do not cause harm to yourself or damage your appliance.
- Apply the paint to the bottom of the appliance.
- Allow paint to dry before returning to the upright position.
