How to Pass the GMAT

Students who want to attend graduate school must pass the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). This test score will determine whether or not students are accepted into a graduate school program. Proper preparation is very important to passing the GMAT test.

Things You'll Need:

  • Study Guide

  1. Find a study guide for the GMAT test. These study guides won't have exact questions from the test, but will have similar questions. You should be able to find a study guide in a university bookstore or online.

  2. Find when and where the GMAT test is available for your area. These tests won't be available very often, but shouldn't be hard to find. Usually the tests are taken at a local university once or twice a year.

  3. Choose a date when you want to take the test. Make sure you choose a date that is at least several months away so you have proper time to prepare. You won't be able to efficiently study for the test in just a couple weeks. Enough preparation time is crucial to learning all the material.

  4. Read over your study guide on a regular basis. Don't read a lot one week and then totally leave the study guide alone the next. The goal should be to learn a little each week leading up to the test.

  5. Take practice tests that are available online or in books. This will help you understand the pace and structure of the test.

  6. Get plenty of sleep the week before the test. You need to make sure you're fresh and alert the day of the test.

  7. Eat a small meal before you take the test. You don't want to feel sluggish or very hungry because both will hinder your ability to concentrate.
