About Clinical Hypnotherapy

How to Pay for Clinical Hypnotherapy

Clinical hypnotherapy can help patients overcome issues such as smoking or overeating. This method of therapy works for some and not for others depending on their susceptibility to hypnosis therapy. Clinical hypnotherapy can be expensive and many may wonder how they will pay for the service.

  • Ask you insurance company. Most insurance companies will not cover clinical hypnotherapy. However there are some insurance companies that are beginning to recognize the benefits of alternative behavior therapy. Contact your insurance company to see if they may cover clinical hypnotherapy. If they do not, ask if you can submit a claim to show that the clinical hypnotherapy is crucial to your healthcare and ask if it can be covered.

  • Pay at the time of service. Many hypnotherapy clinics will ask you to pay at the time of service. You can pay in cash, check or credit card depending on the office. You will be asked to pay before you attend your hypnotherapy session.

  • Ask about a payment plan. If you foresee yourself going to a hypnotherapist often ask if they can work out some sort of financing plan to suit your needs. This is especially useful if you are low income, but find the hypnotherapy has been helping to correct unhealthy habits.

  • Use a flex spending health plan. Many employers offer a health plan called a flex spending plan. You are given a debit card loaded with your chosen amount at the beginning of each year. The debit card can be used for healthcare items not covered by your insurance. Throughout the course of the year an amount is taken from your paycheck each month to repay the cost of the debit card.
